Parrot Finches

Pictures and Details coming soon,

The Red-throated Parrotfinch, Erythrura psittacea, is a species of estrildid finch found in New Caledonia which is off the coast of Australia. It has an estimated global extent of occurrence of 20,000 to 50,000 km².

It is found in either subtropical or tropical lowland moist forest and shrubland habitats. The status of the species is evaluated as Least Concern in the wild, though finding this bird, in captivity for sale can be especially challenging.

It is found in captivity in a couple of color mutations including a seagreen color that replaces the dark green and also changes the red color to orange and in a pied form of both the normal and seagreen varieties.

Male and female are essentially the same which makes sexing these birds extremely difficult.
